Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
Report of the Brain Awareness Week 2018 Held from 16th to 17th March, 2018 at Save Tomorrow Stratagem Centre Nnewi This event was organized by LifePorté in collaboration with Save Tomorrow Stratagem Initiative and supported by teaching and Research in Natural Sciences in Africa (TReNDinAfrica). The Brain awareness program was a part of a science advocacy event for youngsters aimed at providing science exposure to elementary and college students in order to enable them appreciate the science world and the opportunities it offers. The program was themed “Organization of the Human Body” a lecture on the Brain and its function was a highlight of the event to mark the brain awareness week. The event was well attended by the target population, pupils and students from different Primary and Secondary schools within Nnewi, Anambra State, Nigeria as well as teachers and observers from the various schools invited were fully involved. . The teachers led their pupils to the event center. Facilitators and volunteers were also actively involved in the smooth running of the training. Apart from the lecture on the brain, games and activities focusing on the brain was a feature of the event. Teachers and observers who participated in the event expressed their satisfaction with the kind of event as it was enlightening and inspiring. The kids testified they learnt a lot. The volunteers were not left out in the testimonies. On the whole, participants felt the impact of the event. They all expressed their joy and satisfaction regarding the training, and even indicated interest to have more of such sessions.

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
BAW participation gave a rewarding experience of reaching out to school kids in a way different from a routine school setting. the program was stimulating for the kids and made them have the passion to learn more about the brain, organization of life and science in general.
