Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
Brain Awareness Week 2022, sponsored by Liga Acadêmica de Neurociências e Ciências do Comportamento da USP de Ribeirao Preto – LANeCom, featured a series of Webinars to disseminate evidence-based neuroscientific information and promote outreach activities, establishing bridges between academia and society. In this context, the lectures were broadcast on YouTube ®, and among the various topics covered, the implications of alcohol withdrawal syndrome in the perception of visual inversion of depth, how food choices determine food intake, and how these choices develop until the formation of an eating habit. Also, it discussed the challenges and opportunities of Neuroscience research in Brazil and abroad in a roundtable with researchers who carry out part of their PhD abroad. In addition, behind the scenes, notorious neuroscientific facts and discoveries and stories about the people involved were covered in a relaxed way.
Another presentation addressed the near-death experience and provided information for healthcare professionals. A webinar discussed the importance of females in studying social behaviour and women researchers in the Neurosciences. Neuroscience of resilience addressed how the stress-resistant brain works, and the current president of the Brazilian Society of Neurosciences, Prof. Dr. Deborah Sucheck reported how stress in childhood and adolescence could impact social behaviour. Still, neural circuits and the endocannabinoid system in Schizophrenia also deserve to be highlighted in the activities carried out in Brain Week. Finally, LANeCom members from different regions of Brazil presented an Interdisciplinary view of Neurosciences.

Feedback & Keys to Success
How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
The BAW 2022 activities are a very effective way to present essential Neuroscience topics and research that are carried out at the University to students, professionals, and community members in general. Some health professionals said they started to look at patients with more empathy after participating in BAW activities. Also, it is an excellent opportunity for LANeCom members to exercise communication on subjects that are often complex for a lay public.
