Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
This was our second year of celebrating BAW and once again it was very successful. Last year’s poster contest was such a success that we decided to do it again. Once again the response was great and some wonderful posters were submitted. Each day during Morning Announcements a cool fact about the brain was read. As we did last year teachers were given packets of materials to use with their students and each student was given a Mindboggling Workbook.

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
Students are fascinated with learning about the brain and especially the fact that they can do things to change it in positive ways. The majority of these students live in poverty and face many challenges in their lives outside of school and it is such a positive for them to be able to feel that this is something they do have control of.
