Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
BAW Opening Event on March 16, 17:00-19:00, at Carol Davila University of Medicine included talks by Ana-Maria Zagrean (12 years of BAW events in Romania), Mihai Stancu (2015-UNESCO International Year of Light), Andrei-Nicolae Vasilescu (Is my red the same as your red? How the brain paints the world), Cosmin Serban and Mihai Moldovan (Monitoring EEG reactivity to external stimuli), followed by a live experiment. Lab Open Day, March 17: school and university students actually invaded the Neuroscience lab at Carol Davila University of Medicine, and enjoyed the animated tour and live experiments. The interactive neuroscience workshop at School no. 150 ‘Sf. Elefterie’ on the theme Vision from Light to Perception, on March 18, 15:30-17:00, was organized by Ana-Maria Zagrean, Suzana Voiculescu, Ruxandra Sava and Mihai Stancu. SOMS Neuro Session: Illuminating Brains BAW Competition, on March 19th, 16:00-19:00, at Carol Davila University. SOMS awarded 3 prizes to Alina-Aurelia Lazar, Amelia Voinea and Abdallah Reda Elsayed. BAW Neuroscience Workshop with live experiment was organized by Ana-Maria Zagrean as part of a medical students’ congress on March 20, 11:00-13:00 at the Neuroscience Laboratory, Carol Davila University. BAW Conferences – Neuroscience Opening Lecture, on March 20, 17:00-20:00, in ‘George Emil Palade’ Amphitheatre at Carol Davila University. Lectures were given by Leon Zagrean, Sorin Adrian Mihalache, Marius Leordeanu, Adrian Restian and Ion Andrei Dorobantu.
