Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
The event was an online concert combined with short talks, around the theme of synaesthesia, music and consciousness. Talks were given by Dr Svetlana Rudenko and Dr Carol Steen about the experience of synaesthesia; a live recording of Svetlana performing a series of piano pieces accompanied by the ConTempo Quartet (recorded specifically for this event) was then shown, followed by a live Q&A, hosted by me. Attendance was good considering it took place on Saturday evening (this was necessary as Carol Steen joined us live from NY, USA); a different choice of time may have increased attendance. The Q&A was very interactive and resulted in a lively discussion, and I would recommend that all online events should include one.

Choice of time and day of the event is important; social media are the most effective way to advertise events; for online events, some interactive element – e.g. a Q&A – is essential
