Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
Supported by PUCRS ( Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul), INSCER (Brain Institute of Rio Grande do Sul), Graduate Program in Biomedical Gerontology and Municipal School of Fundamental Teaching Araça (MSFTA), researchers at Memory Center conducted two distinct events in brain week, informing the general public on how to take care of brain health. On the first day the researchers went to MSFTA, and contextualized the evolution of the brain and the importance of healthy habits to improve learning by using motor and sensory activities. Around fifty fifth grade students participated and demonstrated interest in an upcoming event. On the second day, the researchers conducted four free lectures, open to the community, held in the facilities of the graduate program in gerontology at PUCRS, with the disclosure made by the Social and Television media of INSCER. The event lasted from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and was attended by approximately fifty people. The lectures were on the themes of: – From our ancestors to the present day, how much has our brain evolved? – How can we improve our memory? – Can we stop the aging of our brain? – Tips to keep the brain healthy.
