Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
At the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology, during the classes dedicated to the subject Introduction to Medical Research, we held 2 events in order to join the global Brain Awareness Week 2018, as follows: 1. Practical Laboratory Class – focused on performing brain sub-dissection and recognition of different areas of an animal’s brain; 2. Student Seminars – focused on brain-related disorders: depression, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, schizophrenia and stroke. The events were organised for and by the 3rd year medical degree students. The Student Seminars continued throughout the month of March: overall, 28 different brain-related topics were presented by the students. As an organiser of these events, I feel that the students were interested in them, especially the Practical Class. In addition, I feel they were intrigued by being part of the global Brain Awareness Programme.
