Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
Presentations at the Art School of Thessaloniki (two events, two consecutive days): This event was a one-day in depth presentation of the brain. Almost 150 students of the Art School of Thessaloniki (Lyceum) and another 150 students (high School) the next day, attended the event which included lectures and musical presentation. The opening talk was given by Mrs. Athina Rallis, Director of the Art School of Thessaloniki followed by a short presentation by Asst. Prof. Anastasia Tsingotjidou, School of Veterinary Medicine, Fac. of Health Sciences, Aristotle Univ. of Thessaloniki on BAW’s activities in Greece and worldwide. Ass. Prof. M. Margariti, with her speech “The Brain: the moderator of our lives “informed the students of the brain, its functions and abilities. Students asked questions and discussed topics that emerged from the presentation. How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
The two events presented at the Art School were very interesting to the students since at the end of the talks was a number of questions and there was a fruitful conversation. This way Hellenic Society for Neurosciences was advertised through BAW events. At the book presentation of “Women and Neurosciences in Greece” the audience get to know a sex related issue through another spectrum: Neurosciences.
