Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
MARCH 16, 2015 – FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF MARANHÃO Lecture given to freshman Pharmacy alumni of UFMA, titled “Initiation of the Study of the Brain”; Exhibition of posters at UFMA campus all over the week, displaying “neurohints”; o MARCH 17, 2015 – UEB Lindalva Teotônia Nunes District Vila Isabel Lectures Cicle: The effect of alcohol and other drugs in the organism, in the nervous system and in the oral health. Group quizz using balloons: the ballons had varied questions that would be answered by the one standing with it at the end of a song played by us (AAC academics). The participant gave his answer, followed by the scientific explanation and the application of the concept in daylife, provided by the AAC. As a reward, participants earned a chocolate. A soaked in alcohol egg was our experiment to explain how the liver and brain be when exposed to long term alcohol intake. A model illustrated the chemical synapsis, neurons and the general division of the brain was used as visual aid; MARCH 19, 2015 – CEM Liceu Maranhense Cycle of Lectures: Initiation to the Study of the Brain; “What are synapses and what are neurotransmitters?”; “Learning how to Learn – Optimizing Studies”; Group Dynamics: Simulating the synaptic transmission; Target audience: Junior and Senior High School Alumni. MARCH 20, 2015 – Federal University of Maranhão – UFMA Main Lecture given by Prof. Dr. Marcus Paes intitulada “Scientist: To be or nem’ to be?”
