Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

We had a speaker who is an accomplished cook talk about strategies for healthy meals that are simple and nutritious, and had a lovely lunch that she had prepared for us with the assistance of other volunteers. The really cool thing about this program is that we had volunteers from West Linn, Salem, Keizer, Molalla and Mt. Angel help with the meal and materials preparation, and that we had folks from other towns attend as well. And we had handouts from the Dana Foundation, the NIH, and Harvard Medical School, as well as brain activities and social time. A great time was had by all!

Feedback & Keys to Success

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?

This is our third year, and new folks keep coming . Some of our folks have died or moved into assisted living. That’s sad, but we helped them along the way, which is very gratifying.

Please share any suggestions or lessons learned that may help others plan future events:

We have a dedicated e-mail distribution list, that helps, and I call every single person I haven’t heard from, every month, to let them know, and keep them in the loop.
