Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

BAW was celebrated in Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana with the conference titled: “Protector effect of a diet rich in fatty acids in Huntington’s disease” imparted by Dr. Francisca Perez Severiano. Dr. Perez Severiano is a researcher from the Department of Neurochemistry of the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery “Manuel Velasco Suarez”. The objective of the conference was to inform our community about a neurodegenerative disorder, Huntington´s disease and the research efforts that are oriented to find a treatment in our country. The goals we have for these year were achieved, the continuity of BAW in UAM Cuajimalpa, the interest of our community in topics about the brain were increased and satisfied with this interesting conference.

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?

Give information about the brain research, and its application in our lives is important to encourage the support for neuroscience research, also to continue to understand and find treatments for many brain disorders, and to understand the bases our behavior. The Brain Awareness week also, help to inspire young students that are interested in brain to continue with this interest, and probably some of them will become brain researchers.
