Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

As a first time partner, I organised a pilot event consisting of two activities: a conference in the main auditorium and lab tour for university students. The conference also had some general public attending. The title was: Cerebro y Aprendizaje: Investigaciones de los procesos de aprendizaje aportados por las Neurociencias. [Brain and learning: Research on the learning processes provided by the neuroscience. The main goal was to explain the underlying neurobiology to distinct leaning processes bridging when possible knowledge and research from education and neuroscience. I think the goal was achieved as revealed by random survey and follow-up. The one thing that let me down was that I was not able to organise the BAW event in the planned week as my dad passed away on March 15th, 2016, so the sponsor and me had to postpone the event for two weeks due to my family mourning. Also, we had to wait to have the main university auditorium available again. Originally, the pitot BAW event that I had organised, the first ever in my sponsor institution, planned to show a series of movies but that had unfortunately to be cancelled to. I learned about our capabilities to organise this event in this particular institution and look forward to organise more complex celebration in 2017, including a forum with various speakers, lab tours, movie shows, debates, and activities aimed to a more massive general public and others. I have some pictures of the event that I would like to share that I had recently got them from the public department of my sponsor institution Thank you very much for given the opportunity to be organise a event as BAW partner in the University Autonoma of Chile. I very much appreciated it.

Feedback & Keys to Success

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?

The organisation has benefited as the conference subject connects with the education model enacted by the university. The university students (many of them first generation) very much benefited as the learned about the underlying neurobiology to many learning processes, bringing a new view and whole new set of learning strategies for them to use.
