BAW 2017 in Universidad de Caldas was about Santiago Felipe Ramon y Cajal, who is considered the “father of neuroscience”. The activities began at may 2nd, just to coincide with Ramon y Cajal´s birthday and with the date of the very first Ramon y Cajal´s publication of his discoveries in the field of neuroscience using the “Reazione Nera”. The main activities were lectures and conferences about the life and work of Ramon y Cajal, which were complemented with two lab tours. The main goal was to show that the genius of Ramon y Cajal was a product of his perseverance and hardwork.

Feedback & Keys to Success
How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
The main benefit from our participation in BAW was the feeling of being part of a global community of scientist dedicated to share their knowledge about the brain. Our organization strengthened its internal leadership in the neuroscience field and our local community had access to first-hand information about the dawn of modern neuroscience.
