Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
At the Brain Awareness Week 2016 we hosted five events. The first one was a neuroscience fair, where students of the subject “Psychobiology” designed experiments related to the brain and nervous system. The second event was a conference about the biological basis of the EMDR therapy, imparted by Katherine González Sensente, BSc. On the third day, Magister Daniel Riquelme Uribe, MSc, of the Universidad de Playa Ancha (Chile) imparted the conference “Tips and Tricks of the Learning Process”. The fourth event was a cinema forum of the movie “Enter the Dangerous Mind”, to discuss the characteristics and behavior of people suffering schizophrenic disorders. It was imparted by Guillermo García, BSc. The last event of the week was a workshop titled “Mindfulness and Neuroscience”, where Gustavo Paniagua, BSc, presented the latest advances in neuroscience that supports the effectiveness of the practice of mindfulness. Further, the participants learned basic mindful exercises.
