Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
Since 2002, the Facultad de Psicología, UNAM, has celebrate this commemoration with a diversity of activities focused in sharing knowledge and awareness about the brain. The event was addressed to university students and general públic. It was organized in support of the Mexican Chapter of Society for Neurosciences (csfncdmx.facmed.unam.mx/) and Universum, Sciences Museum of UNAM (www.universum.unam.mx/) , took place from 11 to 15 March 2019 in Mexico City, at the Facultad de Psicología. The activities included in the event are: 1) Visits to laboratories: this year 24 neurosciences laboratories of the Faculty of Psychology opened your doors for the general and academic public with the objective give an overview of whats is done in the laboratories of neuroscience and behaviour. 2) Tematic Days: in this commemoration was realized dialogue tables with the next topics: A) “Brain in fullness. Old age: beyond the loss”, B)”Poverty, a risk factor for the brain ?: Malnutrition” and, C) “Of the migrations, displaced and neurosciences”, the guideline of the talks was to specify the true dimension of advances in Neuroscience to understand behavior and cognitive processes in relation to social problems. 3) Playful day: we have the participation of students who, put their knowledge to the test through activities such as games in neurosciences, stand up (“The brain with laughter”), storytellers and neuroscientific comics, scientific posters (“Neuropsychology in your hands, with TOWI!”) and neuroanatomical sculptures (“Modeling Neurosciences”) all activities with the aim of relating neurobiological processes with behavior and cognition, to bring the general public to know that the work of the psychologist has a scientific basis.

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
The majority of them are pre and postgraduate students doing their thesis project, social service or research stays, some of them even had their first approach to integrate to the laboratories thanks to the activity of the guided visits in previous years within Brain Week. he total sum of attendants to the three conversations was 388 (between students and the general public), but at this count we must add a total of 1800 views of the transmission via streaming on the Youtube platform.
