Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
School Visits: Visits to elementary schools consisted in show them the brain with simple activitis as drawing while midle schools received brief talks about brain and nutrition related to biological rythms. High schools students were visited to talk about sex appeal and hormones, about stress, emotions and depression and about chemical communication and olfatory sense. Movie proyections: movies related to neursocience were proyected in the faculty of psychology tu undergraduated students with a brief talk aboud the science behind the movie in charge of expertes in different areas. Scientific cafe was and event realized in the nights were several neuroscientist were intited to give a conference inside a comfortable cofee shop open to generalpublic. At weekend we had a serie of conferences about memory, Cajal life, time perception, menopauseand hormonal changes, special education open to general public in the “Agora de Xalapa” We achieved to main goals: firts to divulgate to all educational levels main concepts about brain and neuroscience in a simple, funny and accesible way, and second, showing the public what Universidad Veracruzana is doing about neuroscientific research.

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
We believe people felt more comptable with neuroscientific research and almost all expressed to be glad to have the oportunity to asist to these kind of events.
Please share any suggestions or lessons learned that may help others plan future events:
coffee shop events were really popular, people felt more comfortable to make questions and interacted better, but we substimated the size of public, there must be implemented someway to measure attendance.
