Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

1) Anatomy of the brain: to introduce the structures of the nervous system and how it works in some daily activities 2) Feeling and sensing: set of dynamics that was performed with audiences of all ages to demonstrate how our brain processes sensations and perceptions. Activities showed how the brain is able to feel without being stimulated, the color processing and words conflict, and what is the procedural memory. 3) Reality or fantasy ?: a set of dynamics that was performed with audiences of all ages in order to demonstrate how our brain processes sensations and perceptions. Activities showed how, through sound and visual cues, our brain may not be able to differentiate between what is reality and what is virtual. 4) Constructing the spinal cord: the activity of ‘building the spinal cord’ consists of a set of dynamics that was performed with the children, with the purpose of making them aware of the structure and function of the spinal cord 5) Building the brain: the ‘brain building’ activity consists of a set of dynamics that was performed with the children, in order to make them aware of the structure of the brain and its functioning 6) The movements and the nervous system: sporting and artistic demonstration and explanation on how the nervous system controls movements. All the objectives were fully achieved and both participants nd expositors were glad to learn and share neuroscience knowledge.

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?

The community had great interest in the Neuroscience field and research. We have a unique Neuroscience graduation at Universidade Federal do ABC, so we had the opportunity to disclosure about the importance of all the studies and advances in Neuroscience field.

The correct planning and organization takes at least two ot three months. The more creative the activities, the more successful to share the knowledge!
