Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
The major event concerned prenatal and neonatal brain examination. In these lectures, the experts, have tried to explain how they are able to perform an early diagnosis of some brain disorders that regards the fetus and how they arrange a series of interventions to prevent main problems after born. In particular, concerning “spina bifida” disease, the experts have underlined the necessity of a correct alimentation before and during the pregnancy should be adopted. Actually, the folic acid lack may be a cause of spina bifida onset. During these lectures, both university students and student from different schools and general public asked many questions and/or curiosity from experts. This discussion section was also interesting to instill the importance of brain studies during any phase of our life!
