Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
1- “CEREBRAL”: exposition related to central or gut neuronal systems and brain dysfunctions. Tablets available and exposed on a specially designed cardboard brain model at the Museum in Nantes + animations performed on Wednesday for children with neuroscience games and 3D video. Additional presence of neuroscientists from Nantes during 3 days to discuss freely with the public. Event organized by INSERM Grand Ouest, with the students from LISAA (L’Institut des Arts Appliqués) for graphical and computer-based arts, and with researchers from INSERM or INRA. Public: scholars & adults, about 2000 fothe whole week. 2-Afternoon conference on Alzheimer disease at the Museum with 2 neurologists from the CHU Nantes Hospital followed by questions from the public. Public attendance: 60-70, students and retired people. 3- Evening event with theater on “Alzheimer” (master piece from Avignon’s festival) followed by debate with 3 researchers. Public attendance: 100. 4- Evening Science-Café / discussions. “Microbiota & brain diseases” with 4 Nantes neuroscientists from INSERM or INRA. Public attendance: 60. 5-Afternoon at the Lecture Hall of University of Nantes for high school and undergraduate students. “Neuroscience research”. Attendance: 200. 6- Conference-interview/Podcast on addiction with “Le labo des savoirs” from Prun’radio & 2 researchers from Nantes-Angers University/ INSERM. Attendance: 150. 7- With Mediathèque de Saint-Nazaire, neuroconference on “DYS” symptoms and cognition. Attendance: 80. 8- Exposition and animations on Science of taste for Middle school students and general public organized by INSERM Grand Ouest with mediathèque de Séverac and researchers from Nantes. Attendance: 300
