Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

We hosted a speaker event that discussed how stress affects the brain and how to manage stress to fellow university students at UOP as well as hold workshops on de-stressing. We hosted outdoor activity events with sports, relay races, and other fun activities. We handed out MHAC pins that reminded students to destress and relax throughout the day. They could post these pins onto their backpacks or shirts! We hosted a de-stress night event with painting and music to allow for students to socialize. We tried to promote awareness about mental health at all of these events through games and Kahoots.

Feedback & Keys to Success

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?

Yes, it has helped tremendously! With the resources the DANA foundation provides, MHAC is able impact the community and spread awareness about mental health. We are also help students relax from their busy school schedule and de-stress for a few hours. While they are de-stressing, we spread information about mental health that they can then spread to others!

Please share any suggestions or lessons learned that may help others plan future events:

More fun activities for older patients!
