Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:

This year the Neuromascletà needed to move to a online event because of the pandemic. Our goal was to maintain the connection will the Neuromascletà followers by providing 4 online talks (1 hour each) covering a wide range of topics in neuroscience. This 4 talks were given by 4 Spanish scientists (2 women and 2 men) from 15th to 18th of March 2021. Topics covered in this year were Rett Syndrome (Dr. Agustín-Pavón, University of Valencia) , animal social behaviour (Dr. Márquez, University of Alicante), music reward and music anhedonia (Dr. Marco-Pallarés, IDIBELL) and the development of the language (Dr. Mariño, University of Santiago de Compostela). We believe that we achieve our goal, since many people followed and used the live chat to interact with the speakers. The talks are available in youtube (, to allow people to access to this event.

Feedback & Keys to Success

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?

As a result of many years hosting the Brain Awareness week in Valencia, we have obtained a special interest of the local community in neuroscience. People were expecting the Neuromascletà and we believe that at least we have shown how science is conducted, why are sometimes animal models needed and how important is to understand our brain to improve neuropsychiatric health of the community
