Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
We provided BAW outreach to all students at Clemson Elementary during a STEM program at Clemson University. We also provided BAW outreach to 200 students at Hughes Middle School in Greenville, SC. Our goals were to teach about the brain, basics of function, and then discuss how to protect the brain and how to help the brain with sleep and nutrition. I definitely feel like our goals were met, and having medical students present the information gave us more credibility. The students and teachers all seemed to enjoy the outreach. I just wish there were more materials in Spanish!

Feedback & Keys to Success
How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
Our students benefited because they got to connect with the community. The community benefited because they got to meet medical students and learn about ways to protect the brain. Immediate outcomes: hopefully students see that they, too, can become medical students!
