Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
Physical & Mental Activities : Members exercised with physiologist to keep bodies and mind fit. Members stated this event was informative, interesting and engaging. A BrainFit workshop was held at four Y locations. Participants learnt how “Physical Activity Improves Brain Function”. 96 people participated from across Florida’s First Coast. Members also participated in Color me Calm Meditation in which members stepped out of their comfort zone and learned how they can de-stress and be more present through art. Social Events: Potluck, members invited to watch DVD National Geographic Brain Games. Games: Chess, Trivia and Heads up were well received with up to 50 members in attendance in specific Y branches Materials: Successful Aging & Your Brain , Mind Bogglers and Q& A booklets sparked conversations with members regarding being pro-active about the aging process. Members enjoyed the Brain teasers with in the booklets. Exposure was up to 500 people.

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
There was an overall benefit to the members of Y locations , members were able to voice there concerns about aging along with getting comfortable with topics regarding memory and the brain through these focused classes/events.
