Details of Major Brain Awareness Week Events/Activities:
The first day was divided into two parts: a closed part for high school students and open part for residents of Lodz and the surrounding area. The closed part: This part of the event took place at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University of Lodz. High school students have the chance to listen to two lectures. First – “We learn not for school but for life. Addictions have many faces, but similar psychological mechanisms ” by mgr. Jakub Rychter, and the second – “Cannabinoids – good or bad guys” by Prof. Jolanta Zawilska. After the lecture sessions, students have written a test of knowledge of listened lectures and previously sent a note about the DANA Foundation. Then, high school students have the opportunity to get to know the Faculty of Pharmacy visiting bets and labs. At the end were announced results of competition of knowledge and artistic competition previously announced: “Lost in his own world – Alzheimer’s disease”. Part of open: The Educational Centre of the Medical University of Lodz held two public lectures: 19.03. 2015. – “When the body attacks your brain (multiple sclerosis),” by Assoc. Marcin Mycko 20.03.2015r. – “In the darkness of oblivion (Alzheimer’s disease)” Prof. Iwona Kłoszewska

How do you feel BAW participation benefited your organization and the local community?
It improved knowledge about mental diseases and helped people to understand how does brain work and what happens when it starts working wrong way. Also our organization become more recognizable in our city and people want more events like this one.

You need to find really interesting subject of lectures and need organise it in place which is easy to get to by local means of transport. It should be in centre of the city.
